To make sure your railings are made and installed well, it’s important to know the dimensions, colors, and type of building. The good news is, measuring for glass railings is easy. You just need some basic tools and simple steps. By taking the right measurements, you can get a perfect fit for your area and avoid spending extra money on mistakes during the installation.
Expert Tips to Measure Glass Railing Length Correctly
Before you measure for your railing, make sure you have the tools you need. Get a tape measure, a pencil, and a sheet of paper or notepad ready.
Follow these steps for accurate measurements:
Select the type of railing you want. At CLG, we have four types of railings: Post System, Base Shoe, Spigot System, and Standoff System.
Choosing the right type of railing is important. It can impact the final price and how it is installed.
- Use a tape measure to find out how long the railing is in feet. To know the price, we need to know the length of the railing on the steps and on flat ground.
- Write down your measurements and choices. A simple sketch or picture of the railing you like can help us understand what you want.
- Pick your railing color and hardware, so we can find the right match for you. With these steps, you’ll be ready for a perfectly measured and set-up railing.
Here is an example calculation. A chrome-colored Post System railing is 6 feet long near the steps and 3 feet long on the flat section.
